Pasuruan – MA Unggulan Singa Putih continues its unwavering commitment to maintaining and elevating educational standards through regular monitoring and teacher supervision. Recently, a classroom supervision session was conducted for the English subject in Class XI, taught by Mrs. Riza Mayasari, S.Pd.
Core Lesson Focus: Mastering Descriptive Text
During the session, the teaching and learning process focused heavily on “Descriptive Text” under the inspiring tagline: “Words can paint a picture! Describe, Explore, Appreciate”. Based on the instructional media utilized in class, the comprehensive lesson breakdown covered:
- Definition: A descriptive text is a type of text that describes a person, place, animal, or thing in detail so that the reader can imagine or visualize it.
- Purpose of the Text: To give detailed information about an object, person, place, or thing so that the reader can form a clear picture in their mind.
- Generic Structure: Divided into Identification (introduces the object, person, place, or thing to be described) and Description (explains characteristics in detail such as appearance, location, size, color, atmosphere, and facilities).
- Language Features: Key linguistic elements emphasized include Adjectives (vivid words like beautiful, tall, historic, peaceful), Noun Phrases (groups of words acting as a noun like a stunning mountain view), Simple Present Tense (used to state facts and general truths), and Specific Participants (showing a particular person, place, or thing).
- Example Text & Application: Students analyzed a descriptive sample titled “Tanjung Aan Beach” in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, practicing how to incorporate vivid descriptions, specific nouns, and appropriate grammar structures.
Evaluation and Purpose of Supervision
The classroom activity was directly evaluated and assessed by the Headmaster of MA Unggulan Singa Putih, Mr. Syarif Hidayatulloh, S.S. According to him, the primary objective of this supervision program is to evaluate the quality of teaching and foster the professional development of educators at MA Unggulan Singa Putih. Through continuous guidance and constructive evaluations, the madrasah aims to ensure that teachers consistently deliver interactive, engaging, and top-tier educational experiences for all students.
